South Caucasian Identity – A Political Myth
Abstract
Article includes comparative historical analysis of three countries of South Caucasus for proving the point that the identity of South Caucasus is just a myth. We have analyzed significant historical facts using the theory of collective memory that brought us to the result that all three countries have developed by the completely different ways, they differently took all the steps that kept changing their future over centuries and the attitudes were also different even when an aggressor country was the same. As a result of the research an initial incorrect approach of the European Union, to consider South Caucasus in one regional perspective, will be defined. Only in 2014 the above mentioned approach was changed, when Georgia along with Moldova and Ukraine became an associated member of the European Union, Armenia became a member of the Eurasian Union and Azerbaijan has been announced as a Dubai project of Caucasus.
